Children of God,
Cross marked and Spirit sealed. I love saying those words. For those who missed it, we baptized Jaxon John Nelson yesterday. I can’t think of a more perfect time to have a baptism than Pentecost. Easter is pretty good also. He was a very handsome baby. Didn’t cry once, at least because of me.
If you missed it, you will not be able to see it on our Facebook page. The reason is Missy was enjoying a family celebration the whole weekend. She is the only one who knows how to run the board. Someone said at church “that is embarrassing.” I have to agree. I am not looking to replace Missy. I am looking for someone to run the board when she is not present. How many times does that happen? A handful of times during the year? I would love a couple of people to step up and learn how to do the basics, such as sound, cameras and screen. It will keep you busy but it is something I think most people can do with Missy’s help. Not worried about YouTube live. For those who came Saturday especially, the sound mix wasn’t right. Thank you Paul Piercy for fixing it. Part of Missy’s job description is to train people. It would be great to have a number of people ready when she isn’t present.
Does anyone you know need pull ups in size 5-6. My grandson no longer needs them. There are 6 remaining looking for a good home. Please let me know.
We started our ELCA World Hunger drive this weekend. It is the goal of the Northern IL Synod to raise 100,000 dollars or more by October. There is a matching grant to double this money donated. Each church in our Synod is challenged to raise 1,000 dollars. That is the goal of our church. We also have a member of our church who will double the donation up to 1,000 dollars. This member would love to donate the money. It is up to our church to have them do so. I don’t know what you hear about this organization but any kind of bad press is simply not true. Do your research. You will find it is one of the best organizations nationwide if not worldwide.
6 minutes for those who are participating.
This upcoming weekend, Sue and Gregg Flaherty and I, will be traveling to Augustana College for our Northern IL Synod Assembly. It is something that is done every year around this time. Here, resolutions get voted on, and people get voted to membership in Synod-wide committees. We will also worship together. For me, that is the best part. It is great to have hundreds of people gathered to worship. If you think about it, very few times I am able to worship. I lead worship all the time but I am more worried about what is next and is it going to be under an hour. Here, I get to worship with all the pastors. I am looking forward to it.
I would love to know what loving your neighbor means or looks like to you? Just asking.
Crossed mark and spirit sealed,
Pastor Tom
