My brothers and sisters in Christ,

It is one of those things that is hard to describe, but I wish you could have been there. In some ways, it is like seeing a picture of the Grand Canyon instead of actually being there.  That is how I describe what I observed at the Senior Luncheon.  What a great event.  So many smiling faces, both from those being served and the ones serving.  It was a joyous time.  Good food, good music, and good company.  A big shout-out to Jan Hauger, who made this event go.  And thank you to all the helpers who also made this event possible.  Great work.

November is a busy liturgical month.  Last weekend we celebrated All Saints’ Weekend.  We had seven people from our congregation pass away within the last year.  And that is only the tip of the iceberg for all of us who lost family members and friends.  There were way too many candles on the table this year.  However, it seems like that every year.

The weekend of the 8 & 9, we are going to recognize those who have served our country.  We have quite a few members of our congregation who have served in one of the armed forces.  Those who have, please make sure you get a picture to Eloide so we can honor you this weekend.  Thank you for your service.

We have a wedding on November 15 at the church.  Always fun doing those.

November 22 & 23 is Christ the King Weekend.  This is self-explanatory. However, one thing you may not know is that it is the end of the liturgical church year.  We studied the Gospel of Luke last year.  This new liturgical year, we will be studying the Gospel of Matthew.

When we come back from Thanksgiving, we will be heading into our Advent season. I know, crazy!

My wife Patty would like to express her thanks to the congregation of St. John’s.  She expresses her appreciation for all the cards and the prayers she has received.  Thank you for covering my wife with prayers, just like you covered me. It looks like the Memorial service will be held on Saturday, November 22.

Crossed marked and spirit sealed,

Pastor Tom
